You are holding in your hands (or perhaps looking at on your screen) the largest single issue that the HEALTHCARE DESIGN staff produces during the year. Weighing in at a healthy 264 pages, our September Architectural Showcase issue has become somewhat of an event to HCD readers at large… and a point of dread for the editorial and production teams here in the Vendome offices (to say nothing of our Project Manager, Donna Paglia). At more than triple the size of the average issue with no extra calendar time to produce it in, the September Showcase issue regularly clocks us with late nights, nail-biting deadline defiance, and usually more than one raging headache.

That all said, it is still a mighty achievement, and the fact that we pull it off at all is a testament to the abilities of our often-unsung staff members, the production team. Eric Collander, Rebecca DeNeau, and the rest of our hard-working production crew make the pages of HEALTHCARE DESIGN look fabulous on a monthly basis under circumstances where the easiest path is certainly tempting to take at the expense of quality. Hats off to them-we couldn’t do it without you, literally.

With all the hullabaloo about this month’s print edition, however, I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that we are also relaunching our Web site, http://healthcaredesi.wpengine.com, this month with a tweaked design that should make finding what you want more intuitive and visually appealing. Thanks to months of scrutiny from our new Online Editor Chris Gaerig, the site is looking better than ever before. If you haven’t checked it out, there’s no time like the present to do so.
