Maria Parham Medical Center needed to upgrade its aging existing facility to service its growing community. This design and construction rebuilt the entire hospital department by department. The new addition provided a new, more accessible main entrance and lobby that now enhance the public image of the hospital. The entire site also was redeveloped to accommodate adequate parking and clear access to patient entrances.

The new addition consists of an Emergency Department with a separate ambulance and patient walk-in entrances. Adjacent to the Emergency Department is the Radiology Department featuring the latest Imaging Equipment. All imaging rooms were designed using a universal concept; therefore, a different manufacturer’s imaging equipment can be installed in the future with minimal work to existing rooms. Imaging rooms included were Rad/Fluoro, MRI, CAT scan, and Nuclear Medicine. The first floor and the lower level are linked by a two-story atrium with skylights that bring natural daylight to the waiting area for the Surgical Suite. The new addition now provides a centralized location for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Department consists of five Operating Rooms, one shelled future OR, and three Endoscopy Rooms.

The second floor of the addition contains a Labor and Delivery and Post-partum Department; the third floor has the Critical Care Unit and Progressive Care Unit; and the fourth floor has a 27-private-bed Med/ Surg Unit.

Renovated departments within the existing hospital include Laboratory, Registration, 25-bed Med/Surg Unit, Morgue, and Occupational Rehab Unit with a new Rehab Gym.
