The Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has opened its new Pediatric Catheterization Lab. This is currently the only academic pediatric cardiovascular program in the state of New Jersey. This state-of-the-art catheterization lab, a component of the Children’s Heart Program of New Jersey, is solely dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of children with congenital heart disease. The Catheterization Lab offers a full range of pediatric cardiac services, from cardiac diagnostic studies to interventional cardiac procedures such as cardiac catheterization and open-heart surgery. Using the latest interventional catheterization and electrophysiology techniques gives children a less invasive alternative to surgery, with minimal discomfort and recovery time. Adjacent to the Special Care Unit, the Catheterization Lab allows for the safest possible care for the children.
