Meeting and Greeting

One of the many perks of being Editor-in-Chief of Healthcare Building Ideas (and sister publication HEALTHCARE DESIGN) is the raised public profile I now enjoy at in person events and conferences. When I was but a lowly under-editor, I would approach folks at these events and get a range of reactions, anything from mild indifference to polite excitement, with many points in-between. Now, however, I get mainly pleased looks, as if people are really happy to meet me and get a little face time with “The Boss.” It's a guilty pleasure, I must admit, but it sure beats the heck out of that “mild indifference,” I'll tell you.

The one event at which I've always enjoyed the highest profile is, of course, our very own HEALTHCARE DESIGN conference. Raised from a mere pup by the hardworking Medquest (and later Vendome) staff, the show has continued to grow year after year in both attendance and quality to the point where it is now the premier conference in the healthcare design marketplace.

HEALTHCARE DESIGN.09 takes place from October 31 to November 3 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. This year's conference should be of special interest to Healthcare Building Ideas readers thanks to the addition of a new Construction and Engineering education track. I am definitely looking forward to these presentations, as well as to connecting with the HBI readership on a one-on-one level. I may be a tad difficult to track down at the show, as you might imagine, but please do stop by the Vendome booth and say hello. Our staff would love to hear what you think of the show, the magazine, and the current healthcare environment-whether those comments be positive or negative. Good conversation is never frowned upon!
