HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) has hired Ronald Benson, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, as senior associate in its Los Angeles office. A licensed senior project manager with more than 25 years of international and domestic experience, Benson will join the firm’s higher education and healthcare practice groups.
In his new role, Benson will be involved in the Barlow Respiratory Hospital project, a new, 80,000-square-foot acute-care facility located adjacent to Elysian Park in Los Angeles.
Before joining HGA, Benson was a senior associate for Perkins+Will in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for client relations and project management primarily on large international projects including Ministry of Interior, Security Forces Medical City; National Guard Health Affairs, King Saud Children’s Specialty Hospital; and King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Benson has extensive experience in a broad range of building types and has played a pivotal role in a number of well-known projects, including Loker Student Union Expansion at California State University, Dominguez Hills and the Price Center Student Union Expansion at the University of California, San Diego with the Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design.
Benson has a Master of Architecture degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), a past chairman of the AIA/LA Professional Practice Committee, and is a LEED accredited professional.
