Mercy Hospital, part of Allina Health, announced that it is making a significant investment in the northwestern metropolitan area with the addition of a four-story medical office building across the street from the hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

Pope Architects will serve as architect, and Kraus-Anderson will construct the facility.

The new 120,000-square-foot building will be connected to the hospital by a skyway over a nearby street.

Allina Health is investing $22 million in the project that will house Virginia Piper Cancer Institute – Mercy Hospital, specialty care, outpatient surgery services, and obstetrics/women’s care.

Patient-friendly features include a patient drop-off entrance, ample parking, hands-free entrances, extra-wide corridors, elevators, and suite entrances.

The acoustically sensitive design will maximize patient privacy. Plans for the construction support the latest medical technology and incorporate environmentally friendly materials and systems.
