Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is planning to build a Children’s Hospital and Women’s Pavilion facility, just south of MUSC’s Ashley River Tower.

The Medical University Hospital Authority is looking to interview at least three firms that provide programming, architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, cost consultation, scheduling, equipment-planning, site development, landscape, interior design and construction administration services.

The three finalists will make a formal presentation to the board of trustees’ selection committee on or around April 9.

The new facility, which is phase two of the authority’s 30-year hospital replacement program, will hold about 200 beds. It will include a neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, labor and delivery unit, special care nursery, children’s emergency services, women’s services and other specialties, according to the Materials Management Office post.

Ground breaking could take place in 2017 and the new hospital is expected to open in 2020.
