Skanska was awarded a contract to construct a new children’s pavilion at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). The contract value is $80 million.

The new children’s pavilion project will include the construction of an about 60,000-square-meter building with exam rooms; a surgical area with operating and procedure rooms; areas for diagnostic testing, imaging, and lab services; and faculty offices all dedicated to pediatrics. Included in the facility is an attached 600-space parking garage.

Construction on the facility began in mid-September. Seeking LEED Silver certification, the project is slated for completion in August 2015.
