CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital has chosen an architectural firm to create and build the freestanding Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. After an intense selection process, WHR Architects (working in association with Overland Partners and Stanley Beaman & Sears) was awarded the contract.

WHR Architects continues a long-standing relationship with CHRISTUS Health by serving as the Architect of Record for the new Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. WHR has assembled a team ideally suited to the needs of this project, bringing a high level of expertise to the design of this important facility.

Overland Partners, long acknowledged as one of San Antonio’s leading design firms will be responsible for exterior design and provide local coordination as needed.

Stanley Beaman & Sears (SBS) of Atlanta, one of the nation’s most innovative designers of pediatric hospitals, will serve as the pediatric design specialist for the team. SBS and WHR will share medical planning responsibilities and SBS will have the lead role in interior design. WHR will have overall project team management responsibility.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital leaders have begun meeting with architects from WHR and Overland Partners. They hope to begin demolition in late August, with the plan to begin construction in the fall.
