St. James Mercy Hospital, located in Hornell, N.Y., has received notification from the New York State Department of Health that its Certificate of Need (CON) application related to the planned new hospital construction and electronic medical records implementation has been approved.

St. James Mercy learned last year that it had been granted $55 million by the state to support the construction. Since then, officials have worked to secure a site and plan the use of the space in more detail. All hospital operations will relocate to the new site, which is slated to open in early 2019. The existing structure will be renovated and used as a Medical Office Building, housing outpatient and administrative services.
