East Chicago, Ind.-based St. Catherine Hospital, a Community Healthcare System affiliate, opened a new, redesigned 16-bed unit, part of a $2 million project by the hospital.

The Intensive Care Unit is now much more open, with an oval work station and enclosed glass, offering staff a 360-degree view of all patient rooms. Patient rooms are more efficient, and feature privacy glass, cushioned floors and antimicrobial materials and fabrics.

Next the hospital is working to expand its Anti-Coagulation Unit and Outpatient Retail Pharmacy.
