UPMC Pinnacle Memorial recently placed the last steel beam for the frame of its new  220,000-square-foot replacement hospital in York, Pa. The topping-off ceremony marks a significant construction milestone for the building.

The future hospital will feature: 130 beds on five levels; private rooms; acute and emergency medical care, cardiology and vascular services, chronic disease management, surgical services, and treatment for patients in need of long-term acute care; three heart catheterization labs; four ORs, including one cardiac OR; expanded ED with 28 rooms; obstetrics unit; and a Level 2 specialty care nursery.

In addition, next to the hospital building, a 75,000-square-foot, three-story medical office building will be built with ambulatory surgery, a women’s imaging suite, sleep lab, infusion center and cardiac rehab program.

The campus design also includes energy-efficient, environmentally friendly components, and a walking trail open to the community.

Designed by Stantec, the building is expected to be completed by the end of the year and be ready to open in August 2019.
