In November of 2012, a panel of leading aging and design experts came together at the DuPont™ Corian® Design Studio for an event titled, “Transforming Aging Through Healthier Design” hosted by DuPont Building Innovations. The panel was moderated by Kimberly N. Montague, Healthcare Design Consultant with Herman Miller Healthcare, and examined aging from a physiological, sociological, and economic perspective and considered how design directly impacts the quality of the long term care experience. Panelists Lorraine G. Hiatt, Ph.D, Environmental Gerontologist, Leslie Ruckman, Designer and Researcher at the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation, and David W. Minnigan, Principal at ESa discussed the demographic influences and research driving the latest trends in designing for aging populations.
