Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital will be the first greenfield hospital to be built in the Chicago metropolitan area in 15 years. This contemporary four-story hospital is located on approximately 45 acres of land in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

The national Adventist HealthCare System embodies a mission and values that focus on meeting the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of patients and families. These ideals are incorporated into the built environment of the new hospital. Healing environment components include an airy, light-filled atrium lobby, private patient rooms oriented for views to the surrounding prairie and ponds, and an interior color palette that relates to the surrounding landscape.

The full-service community hospital includes 106 private patient rooms; a 12-bed intensive care unit; a birthing center with 6 LDRs and 20 postpartum rooms; a surgical suite with six operating rooms; radiology services with a CT scanner, magnetic resonance imaging, two R/Fs, and two general radiology and three ultrasound rooms; a 20-bay emergency department; support spaces; and patient/visitor amenities. An existing Medical Office Building, emergency medical center building, and a new helipad will be integrated into the new hospital campus design.

A main focus of this dynamic process was ensuring staff productivity and efficiency, as well as staff satisfaction, in the new care environment. Executives, physicians, nurses, and staff from other successful Adventist Midwest Health facilities offered best practices and played an integral role in shaping the new hospital.
