As mentioned in last month's column, our recent HEALTHCARE DESIGN.10 conference was the best-attended in the show's history, topping out the previous high-water mark set in 2008 with more than 3,700 attendees. But as great as that turnout-and the conference itself-was, that number is still a drop in the bucket compared to the 36,000 of you that receive the printed magazine every month.

So this January issue of HEALTHCARE DESIGN has always served as our “Conference Wrap-Up” issue, and that's true again this year. In the following pages, you will find articles derived from presentations at the show (pages 12-53), announcements of various award-winners from HCD.10 (pages 28-31), and even a photo gallery (pages 26-27). And, of course, you can still access our online coverage of the event on our Web site, There's info to be had at, as well, including downloads of presentations from the conference. We hope that this coverage helps present a sense of the event to those of you who couldn't attend HCD.10, and that it shows those of you who were there some things you might have missed.

There won't be any resting on laurels here either, as the conference teams are already hard at work on HEALTHCARE DESIGN.11, taking place in Nashville, Tennessee, November 13-16, at the Gaylord Opryland. With that in mind, is already active, and we're soon to review session proposals for HCD.11.

Looking forward to a great 2011! Happy New Year to you all! HCD
