Non-profit hospital network Atrium Health, formerly Carolinas HealthCare System, broke ground on a new Carolinas Rehabilitation replacement hospital on the Carolinas Medical Center campus in Charlotte, N.C., according to an article in the Charlotte Business Journal.

The 150,000-square-foot project will feature 70 patient rooms and a 9,300-square-foot outpatient clinic. Also planned is a therapy garden, an aquatic program, an independent living facility, and space for future expansion.

The project team includes NBBJ Architects (architect; Columbus, Ohio), DPR Construction (construction; Charlotte) and Rodgers Builders (general contractor; Charlotte). The hospital is slated to open in 2022.
