The New Mexico Department of Health (Santa Fe, N.M.) has opened a step-down alternate care site for COVID-19 patients in a renovated former hospital in Albuquerque, N.M., according to an article in the Durango Herald.

The Gibson Medical Center, which previously housed Lovelace Hospital, will treat recovering COVID-19-positive adults not requiring acute care.

Two floors of the facility will house 25 beds for COVID-19 patients and 25 isolation/quarantine beds. An additional two floors are available for future demand with a maximum capacity of 180 beds.
