Plans are in motion to build a new National Maternity Hospital (NMH) on the St. Vincent’s University Hospital campus in Dublin, Ireland, has been granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanala, a board that decides such things, in Ireland. Simon Harris TD, Ireland’s Minister for Health, says that the news is an important step towards updating NHM’s infrastructure.

The hospital will be the flagship project of the National Maternity Strategy, which was created to map out the future for maternity and neonatal care in Ireland, and the updates will improve maternity, gynecological and neonatal healthcare. Its location, on St. Vincent’s University Hospital campus, will give women immediate access to a wider range of clinical expertise if needed.
