Architects and designers from EYP Health (formerly WHR Design PC) recently celebrated the opening of the new North Carolina Heart & Vascular Hospital, located in Raleigh, N.C., with hospital administrators, physicians, clinical staff, donors and other building team members.

The eight-story, 306,000-square-foot Heart & Vascular Hospital, which consolidates all of UNC Rex’s cardiac care together in one location, now houses eight catheterization labs, two electrophysiology procedure rooms, two hybrid procedure rooms and a cardiac rehab facility.

The building is composed of natural limestone, glass and metal rooted in its park-like environment, with lots of natural daylight and views. Amenities include a conference center with a demonstration kitchen that is a part of the cardiac rehab program, a meditation/sacred space, a variety of waiting spaces, family pods, away spaces and spaces near interactive art and displays.

Other team members including BBH Design serving as associate architect, RMF Engineering as MEP Engineer, Skanska as contractor and construction manager, Kimley-Horn as civil engineer and landscape documentation, Genesis Planning for medical technology planning, Stewart as structural engineer and Shane for landscape design concepts.
