Opening its doors to the surrounding Santa Clarita community this week, the new Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Patient Tower, Valencia, Calif., houses the latest technologies for specialized medical and maternity patients. The new $163 million, 119-bed patient tower is six stories high and sits on the existing Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital campus. Cumming, an international construction consultant, managed the work for the 159,000-square-foot Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Patient Tower over the past three years.

The Tower project included construction of a new blood bank, central sterile, roof top Helipad with new pathway to the emergency department, two new maternity operating rooms with support spaces, and a separate obstetrics emergency department, which will start accepting patients at a later date.

In addition to the building itself, Cumming’s project and cost management teams oversaw the development of a new CT scanner room, pharmacy space upgrade, central utility plant to support the patient tower, a large loading dock, PBX relocation, new campus egress lighting, and related site work.
