Children’s Hospital New Orleans partnered with Hogs for the Cause, a local nonprofit barbecue/music festival that supports families with children undergoing brain cancer treatment, to open the Hogs for the Cause Family Center.

The 8,200-square-foot project renovated a 1930s-era structure, which last served as a garage and maintenance structure for the hospital, into a sanctuary for families that houses 13 suites for overnight stays as well as communal spaces for gathering.

As part of the project, architecture and interior design firm EskewDumezRipple (New Orleans) restored the building’s Georgian Revival façade, while the interior was gutted and decorated with a pig theme to honor its main benefactor.
