CHI Franciscan Rehabilitation Hospital in  Tacoma, Wash., opened in April 2018 as a joint venture between CHI Franciscan Health and Kindred Health Inc. The $25 million project was designed to simulate real world settings and encourage patients to practice common activities as part of their treatment. The freestanding, 60-bed hospital provides ongoing care and specialized treatment for patients who have experienced the debilitating effects of a severe injury or illness. Customized rehabilitation services are tailored to the individual needs of patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation and orthopedic injury.
